Campaigns:
The
most
sophisticated
way to
persuade
elected
officials
today is
by
grassroots
lobbying
and
coalition
building.
BCR has
considerable
experience
polling
for
advocacy
groups
in order
to help
them
reach
their
legislative
goals by
influencing
public
opinion.
We worked
with
Amalgamated
Transportation
Union locals
in
Washington,
DC and
Boston,
Massachusetts
to defeat
mass transit
privatization
proposals.
In Virginia,
BCR helped
the Sierra
Club and the
Chesapeake
Bay
Foundation
win
legislative
approval to
limit
development
in watershed
areas.
Additionally,
we worked
with
the National
Education
Association
to defeat
bills
written to
establish
tuition
vouchers for
private
schools in
Pennsylvania
and
Connecticut.
In Arkansas,
we helped
the Arkansas
Education
Association
convince the
governor and
legislature
to approve
raises for
public
school
teachers.
In
Massachusetts,
we worked
with a
coalition of
unions
including
SEIU and
AFSCME lobby
successfully
for pay
increases
for state
employees.
